3/7/2008 -  March USTR Meeting Topic:  Mounted Search and Rescue (SAR)

Ms. Tomi` Finkle Commander TROTSAR Mounted Team will be presenting certification requirements to be part of a mounted search and rescue team.  TROT MSAR is the organization that FEMA has asked all other startup SAR teams to use as a mentor.

Thanks goes out to Laurie H. for lining up Ms. Finkle.

This was a great and informative meeting.  If you missed it, you missed out!  Sorry.

4/4/2008 -  April USTR Meeting  - Vendor Night!

Our line up so far is:

Leslie Gottesman of Huckleberry Farm in Lovettsville. Leslie trains horses and gives riding lessons and boards.  Checkout her website:  www.milesofsmilestraining.com  She has trained horses for several USTR members.  Leslie is a certified "Training with Trust" trainer (Kenny Harlow).  She's always looking to continue her education and participates in many clinics locally and afar.  Oh, and did I mention, she came in 4th overall in the 2007 Crystal Crown Judged Pleasure Ride Series?

Janet Geyer from "Daily Dose Equine, LLC" a feed consultant for Virginia Equine Research, LLC in Marshall, VA. They have a special "flame kissed roasting" process for formulating their feeds. The process sterilizes and readies the feed for consumption. The feed is more expensive but horses need much less to fulfill their nutritional requirements so the owner ends up saving money. There are multiple formulations for different horse types and requirements.

Sandy Rose from Southern States. Sandy is always informative. She has done a fine job getting supplements into Southern States at a cost very much reduced from "brand names". Check out the supplement display in Purcellville!

We also have an artist coming and possibly a farm sitter ...
